About

Find out more about Red Rose and the adventure that awaits

Red Rose has an extensive history of hosting international camps. Due to our success and ever growing demand, we relocated in 2014 to the Westmorland Showground, a beautiful location situated at the gateway to the Lake District. Here we were joined by over 1300 participants, their leaders and an amazing set of staff, coming from all across the UK and the World to join together for a week of unity, friendship and adventure.

In 2028, Red Rose will return once again to Westmorland Showground to allow the opportunity for Scouts and Guides from across the globe to join together and make memories to last a lifetime! The event will be taking place for one week in Summer 2028, and is open for anybody in the Scouting and Guiding community between the ages of 10 and 17. We will also have additional programmes for Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs from West Lancs Scouts to join in too!

The closest train station is Oxenholme 5 miles away from camp. Most Avanti West Coast services from London to Glasgow or Edinburgh call here to provide connections with the Windermere branch. There is normally a train at least every two hours to London and every hour to Edinburgh or Glasgow. TransPennine Express services between Manchester Airport and Glasgow/Edinburgh also serve the station once per hour each way, as well as Northern services to and from Windermere. Most Windermere services start and terminate here although some occasionally run through to Lancaster, Preston and Manchester Airport.

The nearest airport is Manchester International Airport. This has various transport links to the Lake District and includes its own train station which has direct trains to Oxenholme seven days a week.
